Flinders View Drive, Drysdale is a two stage, 68 Lot residential development with magnificent panoramic views across the bay, and to the Bellarine.
The decorative charcoal woodgrain sleeper walls are a showcase in the development and maintain a high end aesthetic to future home owners.
Rawco was engaged to design, supply and deliver the retaining wall scope during the civil construction of this new subdivision. Our in-house structural and civil engineers worked together to compute, design, and draft all the retaining walls prior to commencement onsite. During the design phase, we worked with the consulting engineers and the head contractor to comply with council retaining wall height restrictions to ultimately achieve a healthy balance of visual appeal and optimal land utilisation.
During the build, Rawco was consulted to design & construct an additional concrete retaining wall system to comply with councils' 100 year design life requirement for an asset that would remain within the councils crown land. Ultimately, the MagnumStone Gravity wall structure installed, proved to be the ideal solution given the 100 year design life requirements due to the proximity to the coast, removing any potential erosion risks of steel.
Wet weather was a challenge during the construction phase, but given the silty clay onsite the site was generally well draining after a rain event. Various sewer and drainage crossings that traversed under the retaining walls meant setout with GPS equipment was cruicial to avoid any potential clashes in design.
Some walls that where designed in close proximity to existing neighbouring properties and fence lines meant crews needed to be especially careful next to assets to avoid any damage to during drilling and installation.
The final product is an outstanding series of newly titled lot's that have been levelled, and ready for new family homes to start building. Breathtaking views, coupled with a smooth and well planned retaining wall/ civil design will be the basis for a prosperous future community within the CIty of Greater Geelong region in years to come.
